Internship Matching Platform for overseas Chinese and foreigners studying in Tainan goes online to expand markets in South and Southeastern Asia
To recruit more students from South and Southeastern Asian nations, Tainan City Government announced on the 26th that the Tainan College League would join the Project of Internship and Practical Training Matching Platform for Overseas Chinese and Foreigners Studying in Taiwan. This platform funded by the Ministry of Education is to assist the overseas Chinese and foreigners studying in Taiwan to gain the internship and practical training opportunities in Taiwan. A Virtual Reality Interactive Program exploring Anping Old Fort, a joint development project of Tainan City Government and Tainan National University of the Arts, was also on display in the press conference. This program featured the technology presenting the beautiful landscapes of Tainan is scheduled to display on the Malaysian Higher Education Fair in July, expecting to attract more students coming to study in Tainan.
Tainan mayor Ching-Te Lai , said that overseas Chinese and foreigners studying in Tainan would not only gain college or graduate degree. This matching platform provides them with the opportunities of internship and practical training in Tainan. The wages earned would relieve their economic burden; the skills and training learned on job would also add luster in their resume. Familiar with the industry in Taiwan, these overseas Chinese and foreign students working in the Tainan would be the cadres of the Taiwan business in South and Southeastern nations, who would be of great help for the development of Taiwan business in these countries.
C.C. Wei, the Chairperson of Fong Kee International Machinery Co., Ltd. (FKI), shared his experiences of two foreign students working for practical training in his company years ago. Familiar with their company’s culture, equipment and marketing strategies, the 2 interns established the branches with the aid of his company when returning to their countries. They have made quite a name for the branches in their countries, which has created a win-win for both the students and his company.
Taiwan Shoufu University also have had successful achievement in their development in South and Southeastern Asia. There are 11 Indonesian students, President Kuang-hua Hsu, said, are doing the internship in Shin Chin Industrial Co., Ltd in Yung Kung, Tainan. Among them, 10 will be dispatched to work as supervisors in their factory in Kota Semarang, Indonesia after graduating in June.
Commissioned by the Department of International and Cross-strait Education, Ministry of Education, Professor Chen-Nan Chen, a professor chair from Kun Shan University, stated that Kun Shan University has constructed the “Global Internship Facilitation in Taiwan”( www.edugift.tw), which provides an online platform for overseas Chinese and foreigners studying in Taiwan to locate appropriate internship and practical training opportunities in Taiwan. FCS Groups, Nao Pao Resins Groups, Fong Kee International Machinery Co., Ltd. (FKI) are among the businesses on the platform providing internship and practical training. This platform allows the business to register their openings of internship and practical training; while the students registering their qualifications on the platform are the talent resources for the business to hunt for potential employers.
To facilitate the Tainan College League to recruit students in Malaysia in July, Tainan City Government has cooperated with Tainan National University of the Arts developing a Virtual Reality Interactive Program exploring Anping Old Fort. This high-tech installation allows the students to experience real-time interaction with beautiful landscapes of Tainan.
